Are you ballot ready?
As Unite moves forward to a lawful industrial action ballot it is vital that we hold the correct personal and workplace details for every Unite member.
The restrictive Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act puts responsibility on Trade Unions to satisfy the statutory requirements. One of which is to provide :
“a list of the categories of employee to which the employees concerned belong, a list of the workplaces at which they work and figures (together with an explanation of how they were arrived at) showing the total number of them in each of the categories listed and the number of them that work at each of the workplaces listed;”
Without up to date information on details and in particular your current employer/rig/workplace any ballot could be open to legal challenge by one of the employers.
This is a hostile tactic used by companies to undermine the democratic wishes of workers.
This is why it is vital as we move forward that every Unite member must ensure that they return the recent letter sent to them in the pre-paid envelope or if you have not received this letter then please email email@example.com and leave your name, address and Unite membership number or alternatively call our voicemail via 0141 375 7065 and one will be posted to you.
